Firmly believing in the power of a smile, Gustav Ehrenreich created the cheerful Hoptimist movement in the late 1960s. The goal was to design a figure that would constantly remind us of the importance of staying positive and optimistic. Although the 1960s are often referred to as "the happy 60s," this decade was marked by disturbing events. That's why the joy that Ehrenreich's design spread was welcome during such a turbulent time. Bimble and Bumble are the very first Hoptimists created by the designer: A girl in a dress with smiling eyes and a caring boy with a stick on his head. Today, these joyful Hoptimists are part of the history of Danish design and spread joy around the world.
