Firmly convinced of the power of a smile, Gustav Ehrenreich created the cheerful Hoptimist movement in the late 1960s. The goal was to design a figurine that would constantly remind us of the importance of staying positive and optimistic. Because, although the 1960s are often called "the happy 60s," this decade was marked by unsettling events. That's why the joy spread by Ehrenreich's design was welcome during a rather turbulent time. Bimble and Bumble are the very first Hoptimists created by the designer: a girl in a dress with smiling eyes and a caring boy with a stick on his head. Today, the joyful Hoptimists are part of Danish design history and bring joy to the world.
