Firmly convinced of the power of a smile, Gustav Ehrenreich created the joyful Hoptimist movement at the end of the 60s. The aim was to design a figure that would constantly remind people of the importance of staying positive and optimistic. For, while the 60s are often called "the happy 60s," this decade was marked by disturbing events. That's why the joy spread by Ehrenreich's design was welcome in a rather turbulent time. Bimble and Bumble are the very first Hoptimists created by the designer: a girl wearing a dress with smiling eyes and a attentive boy with a stick on his head. Today, the joyful Hoptimists are part of Danish design history and create joy around the world.
