Animals evoke something special in all of us. A joy that we share with one another. That’s why the large family of joyful Hoptimists also includes adorable animals. Firmly believing in the power of a smile, Gustav Ehrenreich created the joyful Hoptimist movement in the late 1960s. The aim was to design a figurine that would constantly remind us of the importance of staying positive and optimistic. Because, although the 1960s are often called "the happy sixties," this decade was marked by disturbing events. That’s why the joy spread by Ehrenreich’s design was welcome during a rather turbulent time.
