Firmly convinced of the power of a smile, Gustav Ehrenreich created the joyful Hoptimist movement in the late 60s. The aim was to design a figurine that would constantly remind us of the importance of staying positive and optimistic. Because although the 60s are often referred to as "the happy 60s," this decade was marked by disturbing events. That's why the joy that Ehrenreich's design spread was a welcome relief during a rather turbulent time.
