How to play DÉFIS NATURE – GRAND JEU FANTASTIQUE?

The game board consists of several tiles representing fantastic environments (ocean, swamp, mountain, forest, and desert), as well as the dragon's lair in the middle of the board. Each tile has a "Treasure" token (sword, vial or gemstone). Each player chooses a character from the mermaid, ogre, yeti, sorceress, and genie, and places the corresponding pawn on the tile bearing their symbol.

Each turn of the game consists of 3 steps.

1st step: the battle with the Défis Nature cards

The player whose turn it is draws a "Battle" card to learn the terms of the confrontation. Then the players compete based on the characteristics of their creatures. An example of a battle: the Sphinx measures 230 cm… Can it win against Anansi, one of the most popular legendary characters from West Africa, and Ushi-oni, a half-bull, half-crab creature that lurks near the Japanese coasts? It's Ushi-oni that wins, measuring 500 cm (Anansi measures 180 cm).

Beware, the danger level of the creatures can turn the tide during battles!

2nd step: the dragon

The player who won the battle draws a "Dragon" card and applies the effect indicated. When the dragon moves, it burns the tiles in its path (the players flip them over) and steals the treasures on those tiles to hoard them in its lair! The tiles around its landing point are equipped with a new "Treasure" token.

3rd step: movement and quest acquisition

Players take turns moving their "Character" pawns one tile and collect the token(s) "Treasure" present on the arrival tile. They also collect the corresponding "Environment" token (forest, swamp, ocean, desert or mountain).

If they wish, they can acquire quests (which grant points) with their tokens. During this step, players can use their characters' powers and superpowers. For example, the mermaid has the power to teleport from one ocean tile to another during her movements. Her superpower, usable only once, is attraction. It allows her to steal two tokens from players of her choice.

At the end of the game, players count the points they've earned throughout the rounds. The player with the most points wins the game!
