Choose your characteristics, whether you want to excel at shooting or skiing, or prefer to be good at both disciplines. Each type of biathlete has their own movement die.
Plan your race to surprise your opponents. You have energy cards that can help you make a difference on those tough climbs to shake off your rivals. However, this reserve is not limitless.
It's safe to bet that the fate of your race will be determined at the shooting range.
Sitting or standing shots, with or without wind, you need to choose for your biathlete between a quick but risky shot or a steadier and safer shot.
Two very different strategies that can each prove to be winning. Because every missed shot will cost you a lot of time on the penalty loop.
It's up to you to choose which one will be the winning strategy before making the final lap, with other biathletes hot on your heels.
