In 2105, there are only two social classes left: the Lastings - privileged people who, when they reach adolescence, receive a sérum enabling them to live for 400 years - and the Vulnerables, ordinary citizens. Once a year, a major competition is organized to enable young Vulnerables to receive the precious sérum. The tests focus on their cerebral capacities. Against her mother's advice, young Sophìa decides to take part, but is soon assailed by disturbing visions that seem to emerge from a taboo time for the government mondial: the 2000s.
