At the start of each round, the player holding the courtesy token has the honor of opening the round by stating a rule about a card characteristic.

Each player must play a card from their hand that meets the rule and may also trigger any associated effects, but if they cannot, they must apologise, reveal their hand, and receive a courtesy token.

And make sure to stay polite every time you make a request, no matter what it is, to another player, because if someone sees your rudeness, they might give you a card from the draw pile!
