Presentation of a classic from the East:
During the Tang dynasty in Central Asia, the Buddhist monk Sanzang is sent to retrieve holy scriptures from the western regions. For his protection, he is accompanied by a group of demonic warriors who have been punished by the celestial court and now have the chance to redeem themselves. Among them are Sun Wukong, the famous Monkey King, Zhu Bajie, the gluttonous pig demon, and Sha Wujing, the gentle ogre. During their 14-year journey, they traverse dangerous mountains and mystical realms where they fight demons, witches, and wild animals. And when there's nothing else to do, they have plenty of opportunity to quarrel among themselves.
Tang Sanzang:
While everyone else is immortal, he is just a simple human being, without any tricks up his sleeve. His attitude is non-violent, and his body and soul are so pure that monsters and demons often try to steal and devour him. In return for the many times his companions have to save him, he teaches them the right path and ultimately frees them all from their punishments. Sanzang is based on a real monk who lived during the Tang dynasty.
